Flat Stanley and Ohio, Oklahoma, and Oregon

Posted by Sandy at Wednesday, April 17, 2013
Hi today Flat Stanley, his Gramps, and his friend Flat Eleanor are hunting for states that start with the letter O

We found 3 and got them colored.  How bout you?  We found Ohio (OH), Oklahoma (OK), and Oregon (OR).  Our map is really getting pretty now with all colors.  Hope your's is too.

Ohio is often known because of The Ohio State University Football Team...Go Buckeyes
But, far more important is it's nickname.  The Mother of All Presidents.  There's some conflicting information about which state had more Presidents then any other; but most regard Ohio as the Mother of all Presidents because 8 Presidents came from Ohio; more then any other state.  William Henry Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William Howard Taft, and Warren G. Harding.  The conflicting information is that Wm. H. Harrison is listed as coming from Ohio and Virginia...depending on the source.  He apparently was born in Virginia, but lived his life in Ohio and is therefore, from most sources I viewed considered an Ohioan. (remember to click on any of coloring pages to enlarge them so you can print and color)

I can't really say Oklahoma very well, I always want to sing it like the famous musical.  Turn on your sound and enjoy this.  One of the funnier songs from the movie.

Oregon's State bird is the very pretty Meadowlark.

Can you think of words that begin with the letter O?
have many can you think of?

Join me, Flat Stanley for adventure that starts with the letter O, and maybe keep your orange crayon handy! And a 2nd adventure from a quest that involves The Ocean

Please share your Flat Stanley adventures. Email me to send you a Flat Stanley, or color your own, make your own adventure, take photo's. Contact me and I will post your stories, your adventures, and your photo's every Saturday for Flat Stanley Sharing Saturdays...except during the month of April...during April Sunday will be sharing day. Adults this is a way to get your kids involved, no last names will be used so you needn't worry about protecting your child by having his or her posts here. Can you imagine how excited they'll be to see something they did on the internet.
